Membership is $45.00 for the guild year (June 1st to May31st). Your membership entitles you to attend the monthly general meetings and sign up for various workshops. You'll receive a membership card, permanent name tag, plus the current list of members names, addresses and telephone numbers. You must show your membership card for admittance to meetings and to borrow from the library. In addition you'll receive the newsletter, published eight times a year, either by mail or via email (your preference).
There are memberships available at this time - complete this membership application form and mail to Fran Auty (details on the form). You may also email info@yhqg.org or see Fran Auty at the membership desk at the beginning of the guild meeting. Members may bring guests to most meetings for a fee of $8. Rather than being a full-member, you may subscribe to the York Heritage News for $17.00 for the year.
Please contact YHQG for more information.
Members in the News
In this space we'd like to showcase those members who have a quilt-related business, teach quilting, have a website, and those who make news in the quilting world - providing community service, winning awards, writing books or articles etc. Please send your submissions to the Webmasters.
Congratulations to the following YHQG members who had their work shown at the International Quilt Festival/Houston from October 15th-18th:
- Kirsten Johnston for Rose Window
- Connie Teplitsky for Threads of Inspiration
- Kathy Wylie for Instruments of Praise - Kathy won 1st prize in the Innovative Applique Quilt category!!! A wonderful achievement!!
YHQG member and fibre artist Carolyn Flood has a solo show called Genus Imaginus - A Collection of Imaginary Flora at Side Space Gallery; 1080 St. Clair Avenue West (east of Dufferin at Lauder); Nov 15/09 - Jan03/10. Opening Reception November 15th from 2-6pm.

Tracey Lawko and Joyce Seagram are two of 44 artists whose work has been selected for Ontario Craft '09, the Ontario Crafts Council's biennial juried exhibition. Two of Tracey's "Modern Stumpwork" pieces: "Early Rosehips" (detail shown here) and "Wild Blackberry in June, July and August," will be part of the show. Joyce's piece, Expedition XIV (25" x 33") will also be on display. Opening reception: Friday, November 13, 2009 from 5:30 - 8:30pm at the Ontario Craft Council Gallery; 990 Queen St. W., Toronto, ON. The show continues to December 31, 2009.
YHQG member Mary Elizabeth Kinch along with Biz Storms (a former YHQG member) have published a book called "Small Blocks, Stunning Quilts". The book was first published in December 2008 and is already in it's second printing! There are many inspiring photos of quilts from private collections - masterpieces that have not been widely seen. YHQG member Sandra Reed quilted four of the blocks in the new book, and Margaret Mitchell, another YHQG member, quilted one of them. More great reasons to buy this book!

Member's Blogs
A blog (or weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
If you are a member of York Heritage and have a quilt-related weblog, please email the Webmasters so we may include you in this section.
