Members in the News

In this space we'd like to showcase those members who have a quilt-related business, teach quilting, have a website, and those who make news in the quilting world - providing community service, winning awards, writing books or articles etc. Please send your submissions to the Webmasters.

In celebration of the 5th anniversary of Ontario’s Greenbelt, the Ontario Crafts Council and the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation collaborated to create a dynamic community quilt: the Quilt of Possibilities. More than 60 blocks were contributed by craftspeople using diverse materials, techniques and subject matters. Each block tells a story, shares a memory, a feeling or an emotion of what the Greenbelt means to them. The finished quilt embodies the complexity and diversity of the Greenbelt. Blocks by members Janet Patterson (pg 41 of the catalogue) and Katalin Lawford (pg 33 of the catalogue) were selected for the quilt. During 2010, the Quilt of Possibilities will travel to various locations throughout Ontario. From November 4th - December 12th, the "Quilt of Possibilites" will be on display at the OCC Gallery, 990 Queen St W, Toronto, ON. See the time-lapse video of the quilt being constructed, and view the Ontario Crafts Council website where you can download the catalogue. Scroll down to the bottom of the page when you get to the website.

Congratulations to the following YHQG members who had their work shown at the International Quilt Festival/Houston from October 15th-18th 2009:

Member's Blogs

A blog (or weblog) is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

If you are a member of York Heritage and have a quilt-related weblog, please email the Webmasters so we may include you in this section.
