Freida Anderson

Frieda Anderson says that after years of art education and trying other media and fabric constructions, she decided that all she really wanted to do was make quilts. By working with smaller pieces to work out designs which are then reproduced in a bigger bolder format Frieda confirms her commitment to process. This "process" can be found in her books, Fun Fast Free Motion Quilting, Fun Fast Fusies and most recently, Fabric to Dye For in which Frieda explains how she achieves the colours in her hand dyed cottons and silks. In one of her workshops Frieda will guide you through the creation of a small wall hanging and the second is graciously being tailored just for us.

Sign-up for the following workshops at the meetings in January or February or contact the workshop co-cordinators.

Workshop Location: The Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre, 4 Credit Union Drive, (at Eglinton Ave E., east of the DVP).
Time: 9:30am to 3:30 pm

Workshop 1 - Small Autumn Mums

Autumn flowers treat our eyes. In this fusing class Frieda will teach you new easy ways to make these bright autumn flowers. Using collage techniques and raw edge fusing you will achieve beautiful effects. This is the quilt you want hanging on your wall to cheer you through the winter.

Workshop 2 -Collage Fusing

This is a workshop Frieda created just for us! When asked about the possibility of incorporating some elements from her own work to create a workshop better suited to our members, Frieda was most gracious and agreed. Possible combined elements may be based on Laughing Leaves, Sunset Pines and Little landscapes. Check Frieda's Gallery for a glimpse of what we will be creating in this class. Stay tuned. Details will follow.
