Gunnel Hag studied textiles at Stockholm University, Sweden, and the Royal College of Art, London, England. She has been working in the printing and dying of fabric for over 30 years, producing specialty fabrics for the film, theatre industry and quilters. She has exhibited internationally and won many grants and awards for her clothing and interior design fabrics. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a very interesting artist! Workshop 1 - Create Fat Quarters in Glorious Colours

What could be more fun than a trip to a new fabric store? Making your very own fabric! In this workshop you will learn how to mix full array of colours from the three primary colours so that you can use any imaginable colour combination to create brilliant and exciting textures. Imagine fabrics that look like an abstract flower garden or subtle sky, landscapes and seascapes. Produce soft imagery with depth and interest by spraying and learn the intriguing aspects of pigment dyeing. You will experience and see patterns in everyday objects and learn to turn them into exquisite fabrics.
Learn how to dye with pigments, creating interesting textures. No messy chemicals, no odours, no need to leave the fabric in the “dye bath”, no colour changes. What you see is what you get...and it’s great!

In this workshop you will discover a thousand different paths to the same goal: gorgeous cloth. Learn to see patterns in everyday objects and to turn them into exquisite colourful fabrics. Explore visual fabric textures in your own colour schemes using a variety of exciting surface design techniques. The fabrics produced in this workshop will definitely be “one of a kind.”
