Volunteer Positions
Quilt Show
- Set up auditorium on Thursday November 6th to receive quilts (work tables, signs, supplies and areas to put quilts). Receive quilts from 9-10:30am. Issue receipts, attach show information to quilt before taking to assigned areas.
- Work in small groups to hang each section of the show. This will involve physical work and climbing of ladders.
- Assist in arranging quilts to be photographed for Quilt Show CD.
- Set up auditorium on Sunday November 9th for quilts to be picked up (work tables, signs and areas to put quilts). Take down quilts and move to assigned areas. Release quilts from 5-6pm to those with receipts.

Front Door
- Greet and welcome guests. Collect admission fee or prepaid ticket. Hand out gloves, viewer’s choice ballots.
- Answer guest questions and give directions to the auditorium, Gift Shop, Café, Merchants Mall, Silent Auction, washrooms, etc.
- Add names to YHQG membership waiting list and distribute YHQG brochure to interested guests.

Hostess
- Security of the quilts is the primary, most important hostess function.
- Welcome guests; answer questions; discuss quilts.

Cafe
- Work with the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (JCCC) to provide lunch to guests; oversee special needs.
- Security for quilts in cafe area.
- Liaise with The Merchant’s Mall Volunteer to ensure the vendors have sufficient drinks and snacks.

Gift Shop
- Familiarize yourself with the boutique merchandise.
- Assist customers; explain the basic construction of items within the boutique.
- Ask guests to refrain from eating and drinking in the boutique.
- At all times monitor the merchandise within the boutique; ensure that all customers have paid for their purchases.

Silent Auction
- Setup and takedown of silent auction area; security for quilts.
- Manage bid sheets and transactions for winning bidders.
- Promote Silent Auction and benefitting charity.

Merchants Mall
- Answer questions and assist merchants as required (i.e. getting coffee/tea/lunch from café for vendors on their own, supervise booth for washroom break etc.)
- Generally, patrol merchant mall.
