Every year the members of York Heritage Quilters Guild spend one of their monthly meetings making quilt blocks. These blocks are subsequently sewn into quilts which are donated to various charities for fund-raising purposes. In the past such charities benefiting from YHQG outreach include the Toronto General Hospital Lung Transplant Program, Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, the Temmy Letner Centre for Palliative Care at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Doane House Hospice, and the Baby Bundle Program for new mothers in need at Moorelands Community Services.

A demonstration of this quilt-making process can be seen at A Celebration of Quilts VIII being held from October 21-23, 2004. Guild members will be hand sewing blocks, putting them up on a design wall and demonstrating the layering and quilting process.
