The Members' Challenge was open to any member of YHQG. The kits
consisted of three fabrics donated by Northcott Silk Inc. and Quilter's Garden.
The kits went on sale at the October 2002 meeting and the finished projects
were due at our April 2003 regular meeting. Members submitted their entries
in one of three categories: Level I - Open Class, Level II - General Class,
and Level III - Beginner Class. Three monetary prizes were awarded in each
of the three levels. In addition, there was a Viewers' Choice Award and an
Ontario Craft Council Award presented. A listing of winners is attached. The
judges for our 2003 Challenge were Penny Berens and Kay Phillips. The guild
is most appreciative of their contribution to the success of this challenge.
The theme of the 2003 YHQG Members' Challenge was Back to Basics. The entries
demonstrated a varied and individualistic interpretation of the theme. Each
of the challenge projects were of very high quality and the members who took
part in this challenge can be justly proud of their quilting and artistic
abilities.
