Member's Challenge

The York Heritage Quilters Guild Members’ Challenge aims to showcase excellence in quilting and to provide an opportunity for members to enter their work in a competition.

2008-2009 Challenge

The challenge theme this season is "Like Night and Day". The challenge fabrics are shown below - they must all appear on the front of your work and be recognizable. The challenge quilts must be submitted on or before the April 21st, 2009 meeting and will be displayed at the May meeting. The quilts will be judged, and you'll receive a confidential written critique if you wish. Winners will be announced at the May meeting, and prizes will be awarded. The YHQG challenge is always a very exciting way to end the season, and it's amazing to see the variety of quilts that members produce using the same fabrics and theme!

The rules-at-a-glance are listed below, but please refer to the Entry Document for all the details, and for the entry form that should be filled out and submitted with your challenge quilt. Please contact Sue Godwin, Display and Competition, if you would like a challenge kit. Cost is $10 for the three fat quarters shown below.

YHQG is very grateful to Pattie Carey and Northcott Silk Inc. for the generous donation of our challenge fabrics, which are from two current collections: Califon Mark Lapinski’s Home Collection # 3003, # 3005 and Mark Lapinski’s Krakow Collection 3014.
